چکیده

We review Fermi surfaces and band dispersion of metallic monatomic layers (surface superstructures) on semiconductor substrates studied by photoemission spectroscopy, in connection with the surface electronic transport properties. By using various surface superstructures such as twoand quasi-one-dimensional metallic ones, the conductivity, its anisotropy, and the Hall effect in the surface states are understood quantitatively by the Fermi surfaces and band dispersion using the Boltzmann picture. The experimental techniques and analysis procedures are described, which are applicable to various surface systems. This demonstrates that surface atomic layers provide an intriguing platform for the study of atomic-scale low dimensional electron dynamics. Atomic chains of group-IV elements and III-V and II-VI binary compounds studied by a first-principles pseudopotential method

Using the first-principles plane wave pseudopotential method we have studied structural, electronic, and transport properties of atomic chains of group-IV elements and group III-V and group II-VI binary compounds. Several materials which are insulating or semiconducting in bulk are found to be metallic in nanowire structures. Our calculations reveal that monatomic chains of Si, Ge, and Sn eleme...

Electronic structure and bulk spin-valve behavior in Ca3Ru2O7.

Density functional calculations of the fermiology and magnetic properties of Ca3Ru2O7 reveal an unusual state: a bulk spin valve. The ground state consists of nearly half-metallic bilayers stacked antiferromagnetically with a weak coupling. Out of plane transport is very strongly suppressed by the antiferromagnetic alignment, which can be destroyed in favor of ferromagnetism at low energy cost....

INVESTIGATION NITRIDE LAYERS AND PROPERTIES SURFACES ON PULSED PLASMA NITRIDED HOT WORKING STEEL AISI H13

Nitriding is a surface treatment technique used to introduce nitrogen into metallic materials to improve their surface hardness, mechanical properties, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. In this research, the effects of plasma nitriding parameters including frequency and duty cycle were investigated on samples with different grooves dimensions. Steel blocks prepared from DIN1.2344 hot wo...

Fabrication of Inorganic Sensitized Solar Cells by Drop Casting Deposition of PbSe and PbTe on the TiO2 Surface

In this work, PbSe and PbTe sensitized TiO2 solar cells were fabricated. PbSe and PbTe nanostructure was deposited on the TiO2 surface via a drop cast method. The fabricated surfaces were examined by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Also the optical properties of the layers were studied by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) spectra. The morphology of the surfaces was obtained by scanning elec...
